Charity Computers4Kids
The Toronto Police Service will be hosting a Computers 4 Kids event, in conjunction with CNB Computers, on Thursday, September 2, 2010, 10:30 a.m., at the North Kipling Community Centre, 2 Rowntree Road. The computers will be provided as learning tools for single-income families with limited resources. Through the generosity of the staff at CNB computers, it was decided that 15 computers would be donated to police at 23 Division and have them installed in the community centres that would benefit the youth the most. The North Kipling Community Centre, 2 Rowntree Road, and the Youth Outreach program, 1790 Albion Road, will benefit greatly. The staff members are extremely excited about the initiative and are in the process of preparing for the event. There will be 10 computers installed at the North Kipling Community Centre and five at the Youth Outreach program. Members of the 23 Division neighborhood TAVIS Initiative, focusing their efforts in the Albion/Finch area, spearheaded the project and installed the computers before the event. The Toronto Anti-Violence Intervention Strategy, or TAVIS for short, is a Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services provincially funded initiative dedicated to creating and maintaining sustainable, safe neighbourhoods. TAVIS initiatives are operating in all of the 17 TPS Divisions and are supported by every unit in the Service.
